Heroes 4.12 The Fifth Stage Discussion Thread
No, I'm totally kiding about Nathan being president, he could for sure die this season. Though I hope he doesn't, personally.
At the risk of sounding like a Fuller Fanboy, I'd also comment that I wouldn't be surprised if Fuller noticed the pattern while it just as easily flew over most of the other writers' heads!
Good observation!
Any of those possibilities, if properly explored, could bring a bit of the new depth to his character you may have been hoping for.
To me, HRG is much like Angela Petrelli...the more you think you know, the more you realize you might not know. There always seems to be another layer...
If you are going to resurrect anyone, bring Nikki back. She was much better.
I still don't think these decisions should be up to only one writer, no matter how good this particular writer may be.
And, honestly, who cares whether she was blinking or winking, come on... This is ridiculous.
One writer works on the episode, but several writers look it over and give feedback and suggestions.
Why was there a Nikki/Jessica? Why shouldn't she be like Mohinder? Just a person with super strength?
Why doesn't Peter have the same power? Since he has a genetic footprint it should be the same.
I figured Mohinder would be somewhat like Spiderman. He was like a bug strong, scale walls, and spin a web. Not only that he can make cocoons out of people like a spider. Even the writes said they wanted for his character to be reminiscent of the movie The Fly. So why does he just have super strength? Should he at least be able to scale walls? I mean after all his dna was alter by Mayas blood. So the new injection should have took away some of the side affects but not all.
The whole Matt reuniting with his wife and kid is cool. Only if you never introduced Daphne or the painting of them getting together and having a kid along with Molly. Then only just to kill her off and wipe the slate clean is kind of lame. Matt having the power to paint the future is lame. It needs a whole lot more explaining.
Point blank Ando having a power is awesome. Hiro not having his full power is lame. He said he would never go to the past to change anything. He didn't even want to do it to catch the precognitive (painter). So if they thought it confused us they took away the whole future past thing. So that would leave Hiro with power to stop time and travel to different places (teleport). So I only see this working a few ways for him to get his power back. Ando supercharging Hiro when baby Matt "turns him on". Or supercharging the baby Matt while turning Hiro on. Either way I think that would stick Hiro power to on and move on.
I Hope the Sylar's Dad comes back and challenges Sylar (Gabriel). I think he would make a great villian for him. For instance Sylar is a bad ass and so is his dad. It would be great to see to like minds go at it. Like Matt and his father having the same ability. Its like a race for the finish. Sylar and his dad's hunger tell them to take all the special people out. All his dad needs is a clue to Clair (or her blood) so he can regenerate and get back in the game. Plus they are way strong with their powers. So far with Peter out the game so to speak. Sylar is at top of the food chain. It makes sence to give Peter his ability back or bring in a villain for Sylar to "worry about".
I'm excited to see how the rest of this season wraps up.
I read somewhere the apparently Micah, Monica and Claude (!) will be back for the season finale, so that should really be interesting.
For the Peter losing his "original" power, it was explained before that the writer's didn't want to complicate things to much by having Hiro, Peter, and Sylar too powerful (although Matt seems to be going there, and I have my own theory that the writer's proved themselves wrong about Sylar's abilities being destroyed) so they stripped them down. I like the fact that Peter still has the ability to copy other's abilities albeit only one at a time. It starting his character over to someone who started off small and wanted to be greater to help people and that's what he's trying to do and I think he will eventually get his full powers back.
As for Danko letting Sylar kill the shapeshifter, well, it's Sylar. Danko and do **** all so there's really no choice lol. But the chapshifter in actuality was the perfect choice for that character. Danko needed a way to show that Sylar was dead and that he was making progress, so that ending I thought was great. It was also Sylar's reward for helping Danko, which he hopes he will keep doing until they both get what they want; all other "specials" dead.
Is tracy the same as Nathan? or is her power strictly over water just starts off as ice, maybe changing the water to steam or ice? How was Peter able to mimic Nikki and DL but not Micah or Molly? Are all these things really necessary to keep secret? Be a little clearer on Sylars powers so we aren't arguing that he has the powers he had in season one. Most importantly when somebody does something make the character ask the question how did you do that or what did you do to him or her and I don't know is not answer. Here's one If you future self came to you and had a serious scar on his face, wouldn't you say how do we get the scar and why. The answer would be the norm like, I can't tell you but it's important that it happens but not asking the question doesn't fit with anybody's character. End rant.
Also they should keep track of everyones powers, as there are many flaws... for instance Petrelli Senior went back in time when Claire and Hiro went to get the catalyst (when claire was a baby)... how did he time travel? Lets presume he somehow already had that ability, why would he take the same power from Hiro? And when he killed Adam, why didnt he have the power to heal when he was shot by sylar?
Matt Parkman starting to get other powers is a little OTT, does this mean it's possible for anyone else developing another power?
I like the idea of using two powers together (super charger and the speedster) But i still think each ability should be unique and maybe delve into the dynamics of what each power can really do (see Boogiemans comment)
