Heroes 4.12 The Fifth Stage Discussion Thread
Regardless, I DVR'd both House and Heroes and watched both of them. Very good premieres on both sides.
Something to consider is this - what exactly does NBC have that could have done better than Heroes? The Thursday night comedy shows are already trying to hold Survivor at bay.The remainder of the NBC lineup doesn't exactly inspire confidence, even Law & Order.
Bottom line is that NBC is looking to get the leftovers market from what the other shows are pulling in on Mondays, so unless Heroes (and Chuck in the Spring) start losing in a more distant manner, they're safe in their niche.
As a side note, it would be nice if the folks at NBC would take notice of the void getting ready to be left open by Syfy's surprise hit Warehouse 13. That timeslot seems to have done well at holding a genre market...
The long and short of the matter is, if this season really does redeem the show, the numbers will come.
I say sort it out tim and bring peter back to his normal and kickass self

and i will be soooooo sad if its canned. oh and if you want to read about another hero (ok villain) then click on my name.
I think they should move it to the sci-fi slot if they want higher Monday night ratings. Put it on Friday at 8pm or 9pm. It's generally considered the death slot as shows are certain to get less viewers but a lot of nerd shows belong in that slot.
I'm hoping for an upsurge in ratings. I know some got excited after they heard what other fans had to say or saw some of the carnival.
I say new timeslot may have shaken off a few legitimate fans; season 3 may have left a bad taste in the mouths of some middle-of-the-road folk, and if you haven't noticed, it's REALLY popular to hate on this show, even in news entertainment, which I assumed was supposed to be unbiased in general. Heroes seems to be among the most criticized shows in recent memory, which I'm sure has had an unfortunate toll in keeping away potential viewers as well.
series 1 was a promising start, but the show had its brief moment as a glorified tv show worth watching.
from then on, the writing has gradually become cliched, dull and filled with plot holes.
make a finale as gud as series 1 then give up, Kring.
This whole thing with Hiro's bucket list and going back to correct all his mistakes, etc. feels like they're using this season to push things back to a point that practically nullifies season 2 and 3 ever having had happened - ie: redeeming the show in a lot of fans eyes. Hiro is our big fat reset button.
Also, six million viewers is where the ratings left off last season, so unlike previous seasons, we didn't lose any viewers over the haitus, and the fan response I'm seeing is mostly very positive.
To top it off, NBC is now looking at factors other than initial ratings, such as Live + 7, where they take in to account not only the live veiwing, but the DVR veiwings within seven days of live broadcast.
Let the show rest in peace. GAWD I hope this is the LAST Season. Unfortunately, I think next season will be its last after this season fails.

i am suggesting that the current rating system might not accurate these days.
i wacthed the show 2-3 hours after you guys in america watched it live on tv.
well, i'm not the only one who has been doing such thing for sure.
I'm saying all of this to establish the fact that I'm an average fan...not a 150% dedicated fan, but certainly not a casual one, either.
And I missed the premiere.
Why? Because I didn't know it was airing this week. In the past, there always seemed to be a great deal of promotion leading up to the premiere. There were web ads. Media stories. Commercials on TV. Maybe that happened again this year, but if it did, I completely missed it.
matt
Beyond arguments about ratings, the show has definitely lost its edge. The urgency and focus of Season 1 is gone and it has been nothing but a downward spiral of muddled plots and redundant storylines since then. Talking about redundant, do we really need to see the same (albeit slightly iterated) powers with each new character? Super speed...now with knives. *groan* What about another new Company...er, Carnival, to challenge the New Company?
The last episodes and the finale of Season 3 may have given viewers to look forward to but the 2 hour premier was, to be honest, nothing to buzz about. I don't buy the hype of going back, to showing these heroes the way they were presented in Season 1. They tried to do that at the start of every season only to mess it up repeatedly.
The true mark of an epic is a cohesive story with a plan. It has characters and protagonists that you really care about, enough to see what their fate will be. It is lean and urgent, not bloated with forgettable plots and people. It knows it's start and it sees a glorious end. I've seen that in other series. Let's be honest. Heroes is not and will never be one of them.
dissappointing..
This is a fun of Heroes from Turkey. I love Heroes,
and I should say that I really like this new season.
I cant believe that the ratings of heroes are such low. But even if it was lowest in premiere, I am sure it will be getting better in following weeks.
House MD episodes are always good (never more never less), Heroes episodes are either very good or bad, you can understand why people prefer House, in the 17 millions of them that watched the second episode of house, there is at least 4 or 5 milions that will watch and love heroes if they don't have the doctor at the same time.
hell.. im in the UK and i downloaded the season 4 opener! what if 6 million other people do the same then dont tune into the show on TV? it doesnt mean people dont want to see the show.. it just means we are impatient and its too convienent to just download it!
anyhoo.. loved the season opener.. a little tired with claire's character but thats my only gripe!
PS: refresh cast, kill more characters off... nathan dying was great
I've been a fan of Heroes non-stop for the past three years and I love the series.
The show definitely shouldn't be canceled.
Though I do believe that their could be a lot more intresting writing being done.
I know there was a writers protest and all but the amount of money you receive should not affect the quality of the writing or disappoint the fans.
Also, relating to the writing. I blame the writers strike for lost of fans because during the writers strike there were the most unintresting episodes.
In the end, I love Heroes and it's the only show I look forward during the week. Heck, it's the only show I look forward to during the year. It's really an amazing show and I wouldn't want for it to be canceled, so NBC don't cancel the show.
Final thought: Get better writing for crying out loud. Make the writers write good stories intill blisters pop off their fingers.
LONG LIKE PETRELLI
The thing about this season is that it feels alot more like the first season in terms of quality. Alot of the characters are dealing with their own separate lives again and it has a similar feel to the first season before all of the characters started meeting eachother and interacting. My only problem is that I feel like some characters are missing...
