The downfall of Heroes started with the season one finale.

    Agreed.

I hope this isn't the end...I mean I don't think anything is wrong with Heroes. Why does everyone have to be so complicated. It is a great show. Yes it has some flaws but still...every show isn't perfect.

Jeph Loeb did a great job for heroes, don't know much of Jesse Alexander but, this decision is terrible, this will only have a negative influence on heroes :/
  • bryte · 1 year ago
heroes is the best. At least so far as I am concerned.
What do they want from it. Perfection?
Come on no one is perfect.

    Just keep heroes running.
  • Michael · 1 year ago
Why? I think people and the public in general are idiots. This season is just as good as the first. I swear, if Heroes goes off because those pigs at NBC want more from a show that already does good, I am no longer supporting their channel. Furthermore, why the hell is this all going on? I saw the ratings. Yes, Heroes went down from 2 seasons ago, but is it in no way anywhere close to the danger area. NBC is making things worse. If it were not for Heroes, I would not look at any show on TV.
  • saintjust21 · 1 year ago
i dont see where the serious problems are everyone seems to have with this show. There is plenty of stuff on television that is absolute pure junk. Heroes while not the BEST of it all is still exceptionally better than MOST television. yet shows like paris hiltons my new BFF get run time and money thrown at them while heroes gets a constant bombardment of negativity.

It is hard enough im sure makin the show already with all this hate review. but now they axe two producers who've IMHO have done some great work on the show. Making it more difficult.

The only thing i understand in their defense is the fact that they have a rediculously high budget... i cant even imagine where all that money goes. And for all that money the network isn't getting the kind of response they want.

I think part of the rating problem is people are expectation are too high and wildly varied. most people cant agree what they seem to want from the show. and when something significant happens like the killing off of a character as people have been moaning about wanting...they start moaning about the character dying. heroes fans have generally shown themselves to be uncertain whiners.

eh. im happy with the show now. hopefully it pulls through to the end of 'fugitives' arc. ill be satisfied with that. theres always dexter.

I have never wrote anything on this page before but I have been going to it everyday since I started watching Heroes. I believe the passion shown by fans is evident by the amount of people that write their opinions and share their personal views about the show.

I was hooked after the first episode of season 1. There was a sense of genuine discovery with the characters. The character developement was unlike any I have ever seen, even better than Lost, which I am also a huge fan. We all know about the challenges of Season 2. Even with the shortened season, I think most would agree that the episode that shows what happened right after Peter exploded was one of the best the series had to offer.

With this said, I have to share my disappointment in this season so far. I haven't missed an episode but the sense of discovery is gone. Turning Sylar into semi good guy was not a good choice. How do you turn the best villian on TV into a good guy. I personally think that's where this season has gone wrong. Also, character development has stalled to a stand still. Everyone complains about the Monica and Mya characters being useless but it is hard to look at this seasons new characters (other than father petrelli) and think that they are anymore helpful to the shows appeal. They are supposed to be villains. I'm just not convinced.

New writers I think will be good for the show so that it will be taken into the right direction. Bring back the feeling of 'ordinary people doing extrordinary things' and unique lines that the show built its first season on 'save the cheerleader, save the world'. This season has had none of that. I will continue to watch, not because I think the show keeps on getting better, but to see if the show I fell in love with 3 years ago is capable of returning to its original premise which we all can agree was 'ordinary people doing extraordinary things'.

    thanx

this is also my fist time writing on this site although ive been reading it for quite some time. I have been watching this show since it's first season and I truthfully believe it is still one of the best things on television. The first season was remarkable, it made you think, it entertained you and it kept you watching. I think nothing has changed, season two was nowhere as bad as people say it was, the writers had to try to creatively wrap up a huge stryline in a few episodes which i think they did pretty well. Season three is almost as good as season one, there is a lot more action, character development, and the story line is fascinating with all the new evil threats all tide together to form one bigger picture. Some of the things that are occuring this season are a little ridiculous with the characters being so gullible and stupid when it comes to descision making but in the end I think it will end up being close to season one. I don't understand in the least how this amazing show is recieving so much criticism, it's so much better than half the crap out there. I really hope the writers don't give up on the show or NBC, because there is still so much potential to everything. I also don't get what people or fans want, what more could you ask for each week, i mean i look forward to watching it every monday, it's really getting good. My whole point is just in not understanding why a show that is different, fun, and creative is doing so poorly with ratings and approval. Peter and sylars stories are great, aolong with patkman and Mr. Petrelli. Let's just hope that this show regains it's spark with people. If it were to go off the air, it would be unbelievably dissapointing. C'mon Heroes.
  • Squirrel · 1 year ago
I agree that it would be disappointing to see this show go off the air. It is the type of show that only come about once a decade at the very least. I just don't see how anyone can compare it to season 1 in a positive way. Season 1 is probably the season of any show I have ever watched. I don't think I'm expecting to much when I ask that heroes try and capture that original magic it created. The criticism is my opinion is warranted from the magazines and also NBC itself. I don't think these changes would be taking place if NBC thought that the show was going in the right direction. Only so much can be blamed on the writers strike. Stop trying to throw so much info at the viewer storyline wise and work at rebuilding what was once considered a character driven show. The plot for season 3 has become the show. Dirty socks, can you say to yourself truthfully that the sense of wonder that the 1st season offered is still there. The mystery is still alive but the story has gotten away from the writers. And you have to admit, Sylar as a good guy is like the Joker and Batman teaming up. Should never have happened; not this early anyway.
  • Dirty Socks · 1 year ago
you make a good argument squirrel but in terms of production season three is better than season one, the special effects i mean. but season three can't compete with the fascinating storyline season one had. it was awesome tuning in to see these ordinary people discover new things about them selves each week, not just thier abilities. Now it is wierd to see some of them act the way they are acting, but i think heroes can recover. Season one made me think more about life and if this really could happen. It showed us how actual people would go about getting super powers, but now it is a little too comic booky. But im still in disbelief about the reviews for this show, it may not be as good as the captivating season one, but it's hard to do that because these people are evovling. If they were still the way they were in season one the story and characters woulod get repetitive. But i am admitting season one was definatley better, it's just that to continue that exact way would be kind of boring. But i think it will go down in history as one of televisions best, most unique first season of any show.

NBC needs to have some sense. Heroes is by far one of the best shows they have and to axe it in the future( I am praying that won't happen)and fire the producers aren;t going to help. It isn't their fault or Heroes fault that viewers aren't as high as they were in season 1. I admit season 3 isn't as great as season 1, but it certainly isn't bad. Compared to season 2, it is awesome. I think that is part of the problem, viewers expect season 2 all over again and don't tune in anymore. But to fire the PRODUCERS, I mean come on, that is just ridiculous. Heroes is an awesome show from the 1 episode. It had some ups and downs, but still a very good show and ratings shouldn't be the reason it should be canceled. In fact it shouldn't be canceled until the show is officially done as in to the point where they find a good place to stop. At the end of season3 is not that place.
    GO HEROES!!
  • Squirrel · 1 year ago
I agree Dirty Socks. Characters evolve, storylines have to change and yes, to much comic book type writing. The same thing seemed to happening on Lost halfway thru its second season. Bad reviews, viewership in decline and so forth, but it saved itself and its base by season three with excellent writing and a clear direction. It is clear that the final 2 seasons of Lost will be 2 of its best and I think season 4 of Heroes is where the show will start to pick up considerable steam story wise. It will start to clearly define where its heading (with twists and more mystery) for its climactic end after season 6. This is my hope, and that is what I think will happen. As it was written earlier, no show is perfect.
  • Dirty Socks · 1 year ago
yah you're right squirrel heroes will get back on track. I don't think NBC would go to the extreme of getting rid of it, because there is nothing else like it on t.v. I mean what are they going to show from 9 to 10 on a monday that's anything close to heroes. I hope people will just keep sticking with it and old fan's will start to watch it again, they'll start to realize it's good. I think next weeks episode will be insightful and probably answer some questions we've had. That's what i love about this show, in time basically everything is answered. Anyone have any thiughts on next weeks episode?
  • Ravenclaw · 1 year ago
I don't think firing them will help the show, and this just gives me another reason to hate nbc. If Heroes was on cbs or fox then I would have more hope, but nbc tends to cancel all the shows I like on it. However Heroes might survive if it can make things simple again, while still keeping a good plot that ties everything up, except maybe one or two loose strings for the next season. I don't really know whats causing the drop in the ratings, the only thing I don't like is how they (Kring) are under using Maya. I can only guess that other people who don't love the show enough to go online about it are getting confused and giving up on Heroes.
  • Ryan · 1 year ago
I want to know what happens. I came home to watch Heroes, yeah just to watch Heroes. The show is that amazing. Nuff said.
  • Tarot · 1 year ago
I'm still in shock over this. I hope Heroes keeps going and that this is the last of the negativity but I'm gonna prepare for the worst.
  • Think Fast · 1 year ago
Heroes will survive. Some poor luck came across them with the writers strike and now they are having some trouble figuring out how to get things back to a smooth flow like that of Season 1 (not saying they need to do things like in Season 1). I think that is part of the reason for the introduction of so many new characters and also why they are killing off so many (I expect more in the future, possibly Meredith, Flint, Knox to be exact). Basically, they are in the process of tying up lose ends and preparing for something great. Whether that will be the Fugitives arc or if it will have to wait til Season 4, the show will return to glory and yes higher ratings. If not, then the American public either has no taste anymore (possible considering Ms Hilton's fame) or the writers start being idiots and flat out ruin the show (unlikely unless they create another strike).
So fear not and just sit back and enjoy the show and let your enjoyment be known to others so that maybe the ratings can be boosted sooner rather than later.

  • saintjust21 · 1 year ago
the production and overall pace of this season is much better and fast and action-y than season 1. I dont know about you guys but season 1 had alot of down time, the story line was rather simple and stretched out it seemed at times... does anyone remember how annoyed everyone was with the parkman and nikki sanders storylines. the individual journeys didnt converge in season 1 till the very last episode.

we see alot more cross-roads and conflicts of characters emerging this season than ever before. and dumping the characters into new moral territory is great. both previous seasons never had characters in morally gray situations. each season before characters we very black and white, all except sylar. this season has people in tough morally grey situations. and seeing how they react to that is what drives this season. some just react with stupidity, some do stuff we never thought they were capable of. this whole season so far seems to be about character searching.

lastly, the want that everyone seems to wish the show was still 'ordinary people with extraordinary power, finding out about themselves' just isnt possible. we did that. it would be cheap and boring to do that again. the characters are past that. thats what season one was about. season one was like episode 4 a new hope...right now were in empire strikes back. characters forced to tough decision, questioning them, bad guys taking advantage.

we're past simplicity. simplicity is the first five issues of a comic. heroes is so like a comic in many ways, even down to the soapy drama. where we are right now we need the complex and interesting, winding and shocking storylines. it also feels like this season each character seems to have some part to play, like theyre all important. even matt parkman, i actually enjoy seeing his characetr on screen now.

all in all i like where heroes is right now.

The net is a great place to post opinions but unfortunately the haters and the negative reviews are always going to be louder than the praise. I feel sorry for the people at NBC who have listened to all the nitpickers and made this ridiculous decision to let go two really influential writers. What a bad move on their part, they'll end up regretting it.

I met Jeph Loeb when Heroes came to Toronto to promote season 2 and he was an incredibly nice guy. Like I'm talking nice enough that it surprised me to know that people in his position are that down to earth. I can only hope that through some miracle, they'll re-hire him for season 4.

I'm writing form Italy, and I'm writing for the forumers of a heroes-dedicated italian forum created by fans, where we discuss about Heroes, doing theory about powers and many things connected to characters

I'm sorry that Alexander and Loeb are out of the show. I hate that the carachters introduced in 2nd seasons are going all out from the show in fast ways like Adam and Maury.....Maya had potential too, maybe against Arthur.
I love the characters played by Ali Larter and I hope that she's not ending right now in villains
    And where's Molly?Where's Micah?

I'm trying to remember to NBC that Heroes is watched by a growing number of fan out of the USA. Every monday many people is in their rooms watching this show directly in streaming......and after with subtitles because we don't expect that our Tv companies do the translation.

We appreciate so much if NBC take in consideration the heroes fans that live out of USA (like Europe ^__^) trying to do something right like to continue the show ^___^

Remember NBC that some show like Tru Calling and Dark Angel in other countries had success more than in USA....so stay tuned about the ratings that arrive from the web ^___^

    Best Regards

(I'm sorry for my English, maybe there's some grammatical errors ;-P but no one is perfect)

I agree! I live in Australia and every tuesday at 1:30 i log on so i can download the latest episode. its only just started airing on free to air tv and already people are starting to buzz. the only thing i can say against it is that it hasnt been marketed well enough, most people didnt even know that there was going to be a third season.

Instead of firing people they should've had a serious look at the show and found the root of the problem, which is that if you miss an episode your kinda lost for a while. or, if your like a few people i know, you missed most of season one and 2 and as a result you find it hard to get into. they should do re-runs of seasons 1 and 2 just so people can get caught up.

And the direction of the show is interesting and pretty cool, for once they're all using their powers freely (thats where all the money goes) and there is now a sort of evil 'syndicate'. However, there needs to be more character developement and the evil dudes need to be more evil, we all loved sylar because he was messed up and, personally, i loved elle in season 2 because she was kinda sadistic. But in the end the direction the show takes is up to the shows creator, what would a bunch of businessmen in a highrise building know about writing a good Sci-Fi?
  • Fred · 1 year ago
It sucks how they just randomly fire people off the show, and I bet these guys did more than they are credited for...
I truly am sorry for the loss of them, but again, I hope Heroes will continue to get better and better, as this season has been so far, great.
  • 311 · 1 year ago
Failed for Heroes, time to see this show fall apart completely. I liked season 3, I don't get It.
  • Chopper · 1 year ago
I agree i think season 1 2 and 3 have been wickid and that people complain to much about this being lame and that being lame and now these guys get sacked its a shock if people concentrated on the good aspects of heroes and not the small inconsistancies that alot of storys have then things would run smoother. On another note i dont think its that bad that there are gone because there will always be another writer who can bring new material and spice the show up from another angle and maybe not have everything revolved around time travel and maybe somthing completly different.

But annyway i urge all them people moaning about heroes out there to stop.
  • KyroV · 1 year ago
I sure hope they let the show continue it's course! I'm sick of shows being cancelled in the middle of the action! Like Brimstone... But anyway I think the ratings dropped mostly because of the strike, people lost the flow of things and could'nt get back into it, cancelling the show isn't a solution, it's just a punishment for all the rest that still watch it.. If you ask me sacking the writers will just worsen everything... the show will lose the magic they brought to it...
Good Luck guys! Heroes is my favorite show up to no, I hope it stays that way!
  • Sunnisun · 1 year ago
Must admit that season 1 was bar far the better one, not just because the story and characters were new to us viewers, but I feel that the firt season had more exciting special effects and a better storyline.
Still I think that the Heroes series are way ahead than most series and it would be a pity to take it off air.
It is amazing however that the US is always the great HEROES casue even if the series involves worldwide epidemics etc, the series could perhaps be a touch more interesting if all the save the world action did not always take place on US grounds. Sure they have a mixed cast, with a few Japanese, Indan, Latin American and African characters, but the majority are Americans, trying to join the world into hope and peace. That storyline is getting pretty old and boring and I do beleive that if the storyline would vary from this and stop trying to always promote the US as the big hero, but varied itself to new locations, perhaps the series wouldn;t loose viewers as it is not only aired merely in the US but worldwide. We who are not Americans, are indeed tired of watching the US as the big heroes, especially as in real life most of us think of the US as a big joke with brainwached people who only act as puppets by a madman puppetmaster (much like Doyle).
This is not to say I do not enjoy the Heroes series, I do indeed, but the storyline could be more interesting and locationally varied.
  • J Man · 1 year ago
The show is fine. I still enjoy it and really like the twist with Sylar trying to be good.
  • jing · 1 year ago
This is quite saddening...is it like the NBC is following the steps of USANetwork when they junked the series if The 4400? hmmmm sounds..interesting.....but then again, I just wish that they put up a heroic closure to these great HEROES epic...before junking it totally.
thanks and for the cast of heroes ( on and off cam)...be well and good luck!
  • Newbunkle · 1 year ago
This season is the best so far! It has plenty of action, effects, character development, twists, you name it. One critic said it should try to be more like Lost. Um, Lost? You mean the Lost that leaves more questions than it answers? The Lost that's clogged with useless filler episodes?

There are so many critics nowadays, that the only way they can stand out is to do a Simon Cowell impression, insult everything if possible, and generally act like they know everything. Screw the critics, this show is the best thing on TV!
  • Ravenclaw · 10 months ago
Even though firing people won't do any good for the show, the fact is that no matter how loyal we (fans on this site) are to Heroes, regular fans who are crazy about Heroes aren't interested any more.
    Season one average rating: 13.86
    Season two average rating: 11.38
Season three average rating so far: 8.45
    These ratings are in millions.
I don't like season three nearly as much as I did season one and two. I liked season two more than season one! Season three went downhill I think because of 1. Making Suresh turn into the monster thing. 2. Making Syler good (I did kind of like that though) 3. Killing off half the Hawkens clan, and just forgetting the the other half. Then replacing them with Tracy. 4. Having no characters with an occupation or at least leading a semi-normal life. 5. Taking away Peters abilities for more than two episodes. 6. Hiro thinking that he was ten (it was funny though) 7. Way to fast. Maybe season one and two were to slow, but season three was way to fast! The episode villains I liked only because it was slow.
I understand that many people who may read this comment will disagree. So if you want to respond to me I have one request, criticize my ideas, not me. If you agree, please speak up too.
