Heroes 4.11 Thanksgiving Discussion Thread
What do they want from it. Perfection?
Come on no one is perfect.
Just keep heroes running.
It is hard enough im sure makin the show already with all this hate review. but now they axe two producers who've IMHO have done some great work on the show. Making it more difficult.
The only thing i understand in their defense is the fact that they have a rediculously high budget... i cant even imagine where all that money goes. And for all that money the network isn't getting the kind of response they want.
I think part of the rating problem is people are expectation are too high and wildly varied. most people cant agree what they seem to want from the show. and when something significant happens like the killing off of a character as people have been moaning about wanting...they start moaning about the character dying. heroes fans have generally shown themselves to be uncertain whiners.
eh. im happy with the show now. hopefully it pulls through to the end of 'fugitives' arc. ill be satisfied with that. theres always dexter.
These guys arnt even responcable for the best chapters and twists... they are thou responcible for some of the worst.. Who's next on the chopping block?!
I was hooked after the first episode of season 1. There was a sense of genuine discovery with the characters. The character developement was unlike any I have ever seen, even better than Lost, which I am also a huge fan. We all know about the challenges of Season 2. Even with the shortened season, I think most would agree that the episode that shows what happened right after Peter exploded was one of the best the series had to offer.
With this said, I have to share my disappointment in this season so far. I haven't missed an episode but the sense of discovery is gone. Turning Sylar into semi good guy was not a good choice. How do you turn the best villian on TV into a good guy. I personally think that's where this season has gone wrong. Also, character development has stalled to a stand still. Everyone complains about the Monica and Mya characters being useless but it is hard to look at this seasons new characters (other than father petrelli) and think that they are anymore helpful to the shows appeal. They are supposed to be villains. I'm just not convinced.
New writers I think will be good for the show so that it will be taken into the right direction. Bring back the feeling of 'ordinary people doing extrordinary things' and unique lines that the show built its first season on 'save the cheerleader, save the world'. This season has had none of that. I will continue to watch, not because I think the show keeps on getting better, but to see if the show I fell in love with 3 years ago is capable of returning to its original premise which we all can agree was 'ordinary people doing extraordinary things'.
thanx
GO HEROES!!
So fear not and just sit back and enjoy the show and let your enjoyment be known to others so that maybe the ratings can be boosted sooner rather than later.
we see alot more cross-roads and conflicts of characters emerging this season than ever before. and dumping the characters into new moral territory is great. both previous seasons never had characters in morally gray situations. each season before characters we very black and white, all except sylar. this season has people in tough morally grey situations. and seeing how they react to that is what drives this season. some just react with stupidity, some do stuff we never thought they were capable of. this whole season so far seems to be about character searching.
lastly, the want that everyone seems to wish the show was still 'ordinary people with extraordinary power, finding out about themselves' just isnt possible. we did that. it would be cheap and boring to do that again. the characters are past that. thats what season one was about. season one was like episode 4 a new hope...right now were in empire strikes back. characters forced to tough decision, questioning them, bad guys taking advantage.
we're past simplicity. simplicity is the first five issues of a comic. heroes is so like a comic in many ways, even down to the soapy drama. where we are right now we need the complex and interesting, winding and shocking storylines. it also feels like this season each character seems to have some part to play, like theyre all important. even matt parkman, i actually enjoy seeing his characetr on screen now.
all in all i like where heroes is right now.
I met Jeph Loeb when Heroes came to Toronto to promote season 2 and he was an incredibly nice guy. Like I'm talking nice enough that it surprised me to know that people in his position are that down to earth. I can only hope that through some miracle, they'll re-hire him for season 4.
I'm sorry that Alexander and Loeb are out of the show. I hate that the carachters introduced in 2nd seasons are going all out from the show in fast ways like Adam and Maury.....Maya had potential too, maybe against Arthur.
I love the characters played by Ali Larter and I hope that she's not ending right now in villains
And where's Molly?Where's Micah?
I'm trying to remember to NBC that Heroes is watched by a growing number of fan out of the USA. Every monday many people is in their rooms watching this show directly in streaming......and after with subtitles because we don't expect that our Tv companies do the translation.
We appreciate so much if NBC take in consideration the heroes fans that live out of USA (like Europe ^__^) trying to do something right like to continue the show ^___^
Remember NBC that some show like Tru Calling and Dark Angel in other countries had success more than in USA....so stay tuned about the ratings that arrive from the web ^___^
Best Regards
(I'm sorry for my English, maybe there's some grammatical errors ;-P but no one is perfect)
Instead of firing people they should've had a serious look at the show and found the root of the problem, which is that if you miss an episode your kinda lost for a while. or, if your like a few people i know, you missed most of season one and 2 and as a result you find it hard to get into. they should do re-runs of seasons 1 and 2 just so people can get caught up.
And the direction of the show is interesting and pretty cool, for once they're all using their powers freely (thats where all the money goes) and there is now a sort of evil 'syndicate'. However, there needs to be more character developement and the evil dudes need to be more evil, we all loved sylar because he was messed up and, personally, i loved elle in season 2 because she was kinda sadistic. But in the end the direction the show takes is up to the shows creator, what would a bunch of businessmen in a highrise building know about writing a good Sci-Fi?
I truly am sorry for the loss of them, but again, I hope Heroes will continue to get better and better, as this season has been so far, great.
But annyway i urge all them people moaning about heroes out there to stop.
Good Luck guys! Heroes is my favorite show up to no, I hope it stays that way!
Still I think that the Heroes series are way ahead than most series and it would be a pity to take it off air.
It is amazing however that the US is always the great HEROES casue even if the series involves worldwide epidemics etc, the series could perhaps be a touch more interesting if all the save the world action did not always take place on US grounds. Sure they have a mixed cast, with a few Japanese, Indan, Latin American and African characters, but the majority are Americans, trying to join the world into hope and peace. That storyline is getting pretty old and boring and I do beleive that if the storyline would vary from this and stop trying to always promote the US as the big hero, but varied itself to new locations, perhaps the series wouldn;t loose viewers as it is not only aired merely in the US but worldwide. We who are not Americans, are indeed tired of watching the US as the big heroes, especially as in real life most of us think of the US as a big joke with brainwached people who only act as puppets by a madman puppetmaster (much like Doyle).
This is not to say I do not enjoy the Heroes series, I do indeed, but the storyline could be more interesting and locationally varied.
thanks and for the cast of heroes ( on and off cam)...be well and good luck!
There are so many critics nowadays, that the only way they can stand out is to do a Simon Cowell impression, insult everything if possible, and generally act like they know everything. Screw the critics, this show is the best thing on TV!
Season one average rating: 13.86
Season two average rating: 11.38
Season three average rating so far: 8.45
These ratings are in millions.
I don't like season three nearly as much as I did season one and two. I liked season two more than season one! Season three went downhill I think because of 1. Making Suresh turn into the monster thing. 2. Making Syler good (I did kind of like that though) 3. Killing off half the Hawkens clan, and just forgetting the the other half. Then replacing them with Tracy. 4. Having no characters with an occupation or at least leading a semi-normal life. 5. Taking away Peters abilities for more than two episodes. 6. Hiro thinking that he was ten (it was funny though) 7. Way to fast. Maybe season one and two were to slow, but season three was way to fast! The episode villains I liked only because it was slow.
I understand that many people who may read this comment will disagree. So if you want to respond to me I have one request, criticize my ideas, not me. If you agree, please speak up too.
